  1. All old, Damaged Gold Jewelry Most people overestimate the value of their jewellery. The values that are given are based solely on the actual gold value, and not the value of the finished jewellery. The final value will depend upon the carat number (9, 18, and 24) as well as if there is a core of steel and copper added in to it. For example, bangles always have a high steel content which gives it more strength, but less gold value. Also, there is almost no value for diamonds as it will be only the value of the gold band that will be used. The same holds true for such items as watches which generally have little gold value. Jewellers will put a huge mark-up onto a piece of jewellery which bears no relationship to the actual gold value
  2. Silver The same logic holds true for silver as is detailed above for gold, but the cash value for silver is considerably less than that for gold
  3. Costume Jewellery There is no value on such jewellery
